Over the years Tata Motors have come up with some very interesting concept cars for the Indian public primarily and the world at large. The company is quick to realize the market trends and acts fast to capitalize on the issue. The Tata safari is one prime example of Tata’s ingenuity. They introduced this utility car into the Indian market long before any other important utility vehicle had been imported from foreign manufacturers. With the vehicle carrying the reputed brand name of Tata and a highly competitive price tag the car easily found its way in to the homes of the Indian public.

When the Tata Safari initially hit the market it was taken as a symbolic representation of adventure and freedom. With the passage of time however many foreign manufacturers released their own versions of the utility vehicle into the Indian market with the result that the Tata Safari fell out of fashion. To match up to the raised standards set by the foreign companies Tata reintroduced an enhanced version of the safari known as the safari dicor. In this way they were able to stay in the game of utility cars.

The safari featured a very contemporary diesel engine which was a 3 liter Direct Injection Common Rail Engine. Due to this engine the safari was much less noisier than other vehicles of this power and size. The engine also resulted in increased fuel efficiency. The effective consumption of the fuel did not come at the cost of the car’s performance as the safari can zip to a 100 kilometers per hour in a matter of twenty seconds. For the size at which the safari stands it has a rather competitive turning radius of around six meters. The fact that the car is endowed with a power steering makes the drive all the more pleasurable.

The adjustable driver seat makes sure that you are always in your most comfortable position while driving. The other wise big brute is brought under control with the wide range of safety features that make the safari a safe car to drive and take a ride in. the security measures include dual airbags in the front seats along with an anti lock braking system that has an electronic brake distribution providing for more efficient braking. Ideal for long routes and adventure trips, the Tata safari is a good choice for anyone looking for the freedom to get off the road as and when he wills.

The Tata Sumo is one of the most successful cars made by the leading Indian car manufacturing company Tata Motors. This particular model was so successful that many variants of it have been made of it to cater to different market segments. Tata is known for producing commercial and heavy vehicles for the commercial market and this has been the cause of the company’s fame. But the group had its eyes set on entering the passenger vehicle market for quite some time. With the Tata Sumo experiment receiving overwhelming response in the passenger vehicle market they were further encouraged to continue producing passenger vehicles.

At the time when the Sumo was released into the Indian market there were not many cars like it. Generally the passenger vehicles available in India were of basic utility but the Sumo offered far more luxury to the average passenger. This made the car stand out from others on the road. Similar cars were being imported into the city and the Sumo managed to stand shoulder to shoulder in competition with the foreign manufacturers and span over a fraction of the market. This was supported with the fact that the road networks in India began to be developed and people started to wander on to new routes for which the Tata Sumo was best suited.

The Sumo was targeted at large families who needed a spacious and comfortable ride for everyday commuting. It is no secret that India has a trend of having big families but coupled with the economic progress many of these families could now afford a car like Sumo. Not only does the car give them ample space and luxury but it is also a symbol of class for the owner. By no means was the Tata Sumo restricted to this market segment as the corporate sector, especially the IT establishments took on the Sumo. The car offered them the kind of space which would allow them to transport a large number of employees in on go.

Over time the Tata Sumo became one of the most popular cars in the Indian market with the car actually assuming a cult status. But naturally the Indian market got flooded with competitors of the Sumo which posed a challenge to the car. Nonetheless despite all the competition the Sumo remains amongst the most popular utility vehicles in India. We have seen Tata Motors further capitalize on the popularity of the Sumo by making different versions of the car that were catered to a specific segment of the market.

Basically it is the Tata Spacio is a variant of one of India’s most popular utility vehicle the Tata Sumo. When the Sumo was released it instantly shot to success as it was one of its kinds. With time however competition grew but Tata was adamant on maintaining the cult status that Sumo had achieved. They did this by producing different variants of the vehicle that were more relative to the changing demand of the time. The Tata Sumo was therefore developed to net in the rural market of India. That meant creating a spacious, durable and affordable vehicle with the brand name of Tata.

Tata Motors developed the Spacio in two versions, the soft top and the regular metal top. This was done in order to cater to the different needs of the public. The space under the hood is occupied a DI engine which is also used for the Tata 407 mini truck. One can imagine the power that the Spacio has as it has the engine of a mini truck embedded in it. The engine of the 407 mini trucks has proven to be a very fuel efficient truck. Hence the spacio too is bound to give you great economy along with providing high ground clearance which means it can be taken to the roughest of terrains.

The Tata Sumo comes packed with a direct Injection 2956 cc diesel engine that promises fuel efficiency and power. The engine can deliver a maximum output of 65HP at 2800 rpm and a maximum torque of 17.7Kgm at 1800 rpm. The sixty five liter fuel tank capacity ensures that once you load up you will not be out of gas for a long time. With a standard five speed gearbox and excellent brakes the car is fully apt to give you good control on the streets of India. This is why the Tata Spacio has been one of the most successful variants of the Tata Sumo.

Ranked as the world’s twentieth largest automobile manufacturer Tata Motors is India’s pride and joy when it comes to the world wide automobile market. Why shouldn’t it be as it has managed to surpass its own benchmarks each year since the time of its inception? Tata’s ingenuity can be judged with their ability to cash in on the needs of the people. One of the ways in which it has done this is by introducing a range of mid size cars in the specific market. The Tata Indigo SX is amongst those popular models that have earned the company fame and fortune.

Capitalizing on the mid size car market Tata managed to develop a car that was mid sized, mid ranged but high performance based. Not only is this model an affordable piece of excellent machinery in terms of function rather it has an equally good exterior that gives it a wonderful appearance as well. With the large number of excited features that it has the Tata Indigo SX is quite an engaging drive.

There are many reasons to get excited about the Indigo SX. On the inside the car sports a beige interior that gives it the sophisticated yet pleasing to the eye look. The back window is embedded with a boot lamp rear defogger for those misty nights. Child safety locks and seatbelts in both the front and the back ensure maximum passenger security. Surprisingly this mid sized car also has power windows and locks including a remote operated fuel tank and trunk lid. The car also features a mobile charger socket and many other features of utility.

Another good thing about this particular model is that it has been made available in both a petrol engine as well as a diesel engine. The heavy duty petrol version has a 32 bit microprocessor MPRFI petrol engine that delivers great power. Not to say that the diesel engine lacks power but it is still a bit less powerful than the petrol engine but has the benefit of being much more fuel efficient. Since Tata Motors are offering the vehicle in both the versions you can choose the one that is best suited to meet your needs. The more in depth you go into analyzing the Tata Inigo car and its specifications the more of its greatness is revealed. It was impossible to find a mid range car with the features of a high end vehicle until a few years ago but Tata Motors have once again changed the trend and capitalized on the market.

No single car by the Tata Motors car manufacturers has been talked about as much as the Tata Nano. Even before its release we had the people talking about it and eagerly anticipating it’s released. Much to the deliverance of the public it was finally revealed at the 9th annual auto expo in the first half of january 2008 in the city of New Delhi. This is a highly democratic car as the promotional tag line suggests it to “the people’s car”. Tata Motors have claimed it to be the world’s cheapest car. With a price of Rs 100,000 the standard version of the Nano costs just a little bit more than a decent motorbike.

Classified as being part of the new breed of 21st century cars the Nano symbolizes the new age philosophy of smaller, lighter and cheaper cars. The Tata Nano is without a doubt the leader in terms of causing a world wide trend of producing smaller cars. The interesting name actually has the very essence of the concept behind the car in its meaning. Nano is derived from the Greek word nanos which means dwarf. The word also means “small” in Gujrati which happens to be the mother tongue of the Tata owners.

The project was initiated in the year 2003 to construct a small sized car in the range of one hundred thousand rupees. This was done after considering the fact that India had a considerable number of families that were being forced to drive around on two wheelers due to the lack of finance for a four wheeler. This was the basic motive behind creating the Nano which was also encouraged with the company’s successful attempt at producing a low cost four wheel truck in 2005.

Many people were skeptical of the new Nano as they believed that it was not possible to create a good quality four wheel in the budget that was administered by Tata Motors. The results were quite the contrary to the negative public perception as the Nano turned out to be a properly designed and built car. Tata Motors once again collaborated with I.D.E.A of Italy to produce the smallest and most affordable four wheel ride. Together they have managed to integrate such features as the rear mounted engine to maximize interior space. The Nano sports a 623 cc rear engine and is rear wheel drive as well. The car is highly fuel efficient and it complies with the international emission standards as well.

Traditionally it has been noticed that many people deter from putting their hands on a diesel engine car. The reasons behind this are many such as the conception that diesel engines are not that durable and require a high level of maintenance etc. With the Sierra however Tata Motors managed to cause a shift in the other wise static perception of the public. Although the car was nothing extra ordinary in terms of exterior design it serves great utility.

One thing that set the Sierra apart from other cars was that it could be used for dual purposes. This meant that the car was a good enough ride for off road trips and sleek enough to maneuver within the city streets. Ordinarily though such dual functionality is a rare find in one vehicle and you would either have a car that is completely for off road purposes or one that is ideal for the city streets. Breaking the barrier the Tata Sierra took the market by storm.

Taking a look at the specs of the car you will find that the Tata Sierra is fitted with a 2.0 liter 4 cylinders in line 483 DL turbo engine. This mean machine can generate a power of 90 PS at 4300 rpm and a maximum torque of 19Kgm at 2500 rpm. The fact that the Sierra is loaded with this gem of an engine under its hood made it one of the most powerful vehicles in its size. To add to the brilliance of the car it was embedded with a proper braking system that made sure the car came to a proper halt when and if the need be. The inside of the car is quite spacious providing you with adequate comfort. It also comes with a host of other features that accentuate the comfort factor of the car. These include a power steering, central locking and power windows. On top of all of this the car is highly fuel efficient and has a huge tank capacity of about 65 liters.

The Tata Nano is a proposed city car — a small, affordable, rear-engined, four-passenger car aimed primarily at the Indian market — first presented by India's Tata Motors at the 9th annual Auto Expo on January 10, 2008 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi,

Newsweek identified the Nano as a part of a breed of 21st-century cars" that embody "a contrarian philosophy of smaller, lighter, cheaper" and portend a new era in inexpensive personal transportation — and potentially, global gridlock" Wall Street Journal confirms a global trend toward small cars, which includes the Nano.

With the car itself currently under final development, ongoing difficulties at the Nano's proposed manufacturing plant in Singur have put construction of the plant on hold, delaying the project indefinitely

The prefix "Nano" derives from the Greek root 'nanos', meaning dwarf — as with nanometre. "Nano" also means "small" in Gujarati, the native language of the Tata founders of the Tata Group.

The project to create the world's most inexpensive car began in 2003, under the Chairman of Tata Motors, Ratan Tata, inspired by the number of Indian families with two-wheeled rather than four-wheeled The Nano's development has been tempered by the company's success in producing the low cost 4 wheeled Ace truck in May 2005.he Nano has 21% more interior space and an 8% smaller exterior, when compared with its closest rival, the Maruti 800. The car will come in different versions, including one standard and two deluxe variants. The deluxe version will have air conditioning, but no power steering. The car is expected to be produced in the Singur plant in West Bengal, which is under construction. The initial production target set by Tata Motors is 250,000 units per year.

The use of a rear mounted engine to help maximize interior space makes the Nano similar to the original Fiat 500, another technically innovative "people's car". A concept vehicle similar in styling to the Nano, also with rear engined layout was proposed by the UK Rover Group in the 1990s to succeed the original Mini but was not put into production. The eventual new Mini was much larger and technically conservative. The independent, and now-defunct, MG Rover GroupRover CityRover on the Tata Indica. later based their
